In Episode 42, we talked about connecting with people when we are out-and-about in a way that makes them feel valued and appreciated. In today’s episode, we take that one step further by exploring the key to connection: Our imperfections.
Although sharing my imperfections and letting them show to the people around me isn’t necessarily my go-to response when trying to connect with others, it opens the doors wide open for genuine, heartfelt relationships to flourish.
It’s an approach to conversing with others that’s real, transparent, and still reserved. It’s an openness to sharing not just ourselves in the best light but also ourselves in the light that might shine on our flaws.
And… it doesn’t always mean we get a pass to be fully “authentic” 100% of the time. More on that unpopular opinion in the episode!
If you listen to this episode and this idea doesn’t immediately resonate with you, then I would encourage you to think about the people you deeply admire on a personal level. Why do you admire them? What do you respect about them?
Oftentimes, deep respect comes from knowing the failures behind someone’s success or knowing the ups and downs before they stepped into their confidence.
This is a short episode, but a massive topic. I hope just this small snippet gave you something to think about and, as always, send any feedback my way!
Until next episode,
B
