I got the chance to listen to an incredible and well-known speaker—Ed Mylett—talk for about an hour this summer. One thing that he said stood out to me as something worth revisiting from a previous episode we’ve had on the podcast: It is so important to remember, know, and value how we make other people feel.
Everyone you come in contact with wants to feel important!
As leaders, we should ask ourselves: How do we make other people feel important and valued by us?
To give you the SparkNotes version of today’s episode, I would sum it up with this quote which I’ve heard far too many times to even know its original source:
At the end of the day, people won’t remember what you say to them. They’ll remember how you make them feel.
Wow, that packs a punch!
People will remember how you make them feel.
That means we have a choice:
We can choose to make people feel appreciated or unappreciated.
Important or unimportant.
Seen or invisible.
Known or like no one cares to get to know them.
I hope this episode encourages you in your efforts to truly value other people no matter how busy your personal life may be. If you do that, you will leave behind you the most beautiful trail of changing lives and brightening days everywhere you go!
